中文和英文在絕大多數(shù)情況下是做不到字字對應的。中文說“沒有夜晚”。你想的是，“沒有”對應“no”，“夜晚”對應“nights”。但是中文的“沒有”用英文可以用不同方式表達，可以用“no”，也可以用“there is not”(即什么東西是不存在的)?！皀o” ，“there is not”的意思實際上是一樣的，就是說什么東西不存在，沒有什么東西。它們的差別僅僅在形式上，即“no night”是短語，"there is no night"是句子。the sun never sets也是句子。一個句子和另一個句子間，用and連接。the sun never sets and there is no night。the sun never sets做為句子，加上and所連接的成分必須是另一個句子，這樣才對稱。所以不能用“no night”這個短語，而要用"there is no night"這個句子。你想用“no night”的話，也是可以的，只要和the sun never sets斷開聯(lián)系，另起一句話就可以。像這樣：The sun never sets。 And no night。把短語單獨提出來，就成為了一個句子了。。
