located in ：通常是用於比較大的，而又沒有詳細資料。如“He is located in Shanghai”。“范圍”不一定是面積上的大小，也可以是指一座大樓，而但有不知那一層。如“He is located in that building, but I do not know which floor”。located on ：一般不會用於人身上。如“The factory is located on the edge of the city”。有“situated”的意思。located at ：通常是用於有精確的地址的情況。如“He is located at 3rd Floor, No。435, Yan An Xi Road, Jin An District, Shanghai”。 located to ：一般是用於形容“某人”或“某工廠”或“某公司”從某地“遷移”到另外一個地方。如“That factory is going to be located to HangZhou”。在這一用法時，正確的英語是用“re-located to”，縱使將會搬去的地方并不是“搬回去”。。
